It was announced at the AGM of Hastings International Chess Congress held last Saturday that Congress Director Alan Hustwayte has been awarded the International Organiser title by FIDE, the world chess federation. The title is awarded to organisers of major international events, who have to achieve three qualifying norms to confirm reaching the required organisational level.
Hastings Chess Congress has an excellent record for providing players, organisers and arbiters with opportunities to achieve the necessary qualifying requirements for international titles.
We can confirm that the 94th Tradewise Hastings Chess Congress will take place as usual, late in December 2018, and will be jointly sponsored by Tradewise Motor Insurance and Hastings Borough Council. Exact dates and further details will be published shortly.
